I finding grounding a helpful process when I am feeling nervous or have anxiety. I often use grounding as a way to get and stay present. I use a variety of techniques including breathing, using stones, being in nature (I live in a city so I often stop in a park). When I am starting a training or before a meeting I will use grounding to build my attention in the moment.

Grounding helps me to stay present with myself and surrounding
I ground by finding a quiet place and just remain silent
Other times often by looking at nature in a beautiful place like beach side, park, etc

When I don’t have time I just breathe and calm down

It’s weird, but I don’t think about grounding techniques at work. I look for someone to talk to and if I can’t find anyone, I go for a smoke! Yikes! I am going to post something and put it right in front of me, about grounding so I can see it when needed.

I ground to keep myself from becoming overwhelmed and walking away. I tend to ground alone with box breathing. I also have a document at my desk that’s titled “Everything is Awful and I’m not okay: questions to ask before giving up.” This always makes me take a step back to look at my current situation big picture.

I normally drink water and stay calm for a few minutes to ground myself. Taking a break and go for a walk around the block helps me a lot.
